Power Quality is critical for HVAC system reliability and longevity.

UPS Compatibility

HVAC systems require properly sized uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) with appropriate voltage regulation and conditioning capabilities.

  • Voltage regulation within ±5%
  • 20% capacity overhead
  • Online double-conversion topology

Harmonic Mitigation

VFDs and electronic controls can introduce harmonic distortion that must be properly managed.

  • THD < 5% for voltage
  • THD < 8% for current
  • Active or passive harmonic filters

I/O Connection Guide

Universal Input Wiring

Universal inputs can be configured for multiple sensor types:

  • Temperature Sensors (10K Thermistor): 2-wire connection, no polarity
  • 4-20mA Sensors: 2-wire connection, observe polarity (+/-)
  • 0-10V Sensors: 3-wire connection (24V, GND, Signal)
  • Digital Inputs: Dry contact, 2-wire connection
Digital Output Wiring

Digital outputs provide on/off control for equipment:

  • Relay Outputs: Normally Open/Normally Closed contacts
  • Maximum Load: 1A @ 24VAC typical
  • Inductive Loads: Use snubber circuits or external relays
Analog Output Wiring

Analog outputs for proportional control:

  • 0-10VDC: 3-wire connection (24V, GND, Signal)
  • Maximum Load: 20mA per output
  • Minimum Impedance: 500Ω load

Quick Reference Guide

Common BACnet Points
Point Name BACnet Object Type Units

Troubleshooting Sensor Readings
  • Open Circuit: Reading shows maximum value or error code
  • Short Circuit: Reading shows minimum value or error code
  • Noise/Interference: Erratic readings, use shielded cable
  • Ground Loops: Inconsistent readings, verify proper grounding
